Hi Brian,

Okay, here's what I have been able to find out so far.  I noticed when
I used Anything Glows *along* with the glow channel, I was able to get
the look and the effect of light eminating from within a cylinder and
out from either of the two open ends.  I am still learning about
"AGl", but I think with a little tweaking, it can do what I think your
aiming at.  At least somewhat.  My CS4 Wishlist, however, would be
that the character and quality of the "AGl" light output be similar to
the other lights (such as "Spot").  Right now, I still see a lot of
"faceting" within the light an AGl source casts, and some settings are
worse than others.  Also, effects such as "light cone" is not
accessible with "AGl" light sources.

If you want, I can upload the CAR file on vizualds (I believe the file
section here is getting full).

Here is a link to the folder where you can access my JPEG renders of
the CAR file I have been working:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Carrara/files/Carrara%20Files_Images%20%20-%20CC
/Anything%20Glows/

If you notice in the images, light is being casted through the
cylinder.  I think the range and amount of light being casted,
however, is determined by the settings so I'm pretty sure you or
someone else can get better results than what I whipped up last minute.

Well, let me know what you found out so far and if I get better
results, I'll keep you posted.

Cheers.

Claudia
