OT-Opinions?

Hampered as I am by a law degree and some familiarity with the FCC, I'm don't
see any reason to fear the sky is falling--just yet. While the First Amendment
protects the right to speech, it doesn't protect someone from the consequences
for that speech. Howard Stern can say anything he wants, but if he crosses a
line the FCC can fine the entity that broadcasts him. Although it may seem
otherwise at times, obscene speech has never been given any constitutional
protection.

As per the fear of postage for emails, it sounds like an old hoax. A friend of
mine once sent me a hysterical email regarding such a proposed law, including
the supposed bills identification number. A quick look at the number made it
clear that it was a phony.

Sorry for the off topic, but there is a big community here and I am
curious what everyone thinks of the FCC regulations crackdown and if
anyone has signed the stopfcc petition. (http://www.stopfcc.com)

There has been talk of regulating the internet next, which I know is
somewhat something that needs to be done, but how would you like to
have to pay a postage fee for emails? Or not be allowed to swear on
your webpage, or no nude poser women in temples!?
