Back imho, this is not a bug but rather a case of *muted compiler* syndrome. A verbose compiler is much programmer friendly then a *silent lamb*.
One would expect that compiler spawns a similar warning: "You have used a string in right side of a Boolean logic operator."
There should be a #strict mode for AS 2.0 compilation / full type checking, or an option to turn the compiler to verbose mode.
