How to change Tab colors?

How to change Tab colors?

Is there an easy way to simply change the tab colors of the TabBar?
I've searched and searched the internet and the archives, I've found a
few articles that I just can't get to work or simply can't figure it
out.

I'm extremely frustrated right now with this component.  The primary
reason I purchased the DRK 5 was to get this component and now I can't
even get the component to simply change the background color on it's
down state to blue?  I just don't get it!  I'm not asking the component
to do anything amazing, just change colors to let the user know when tab
is down.  That's it!!!

Has anyone accomplished this?  Do you have to rewrite the Class file in
order to do this?  I think I'm going to throw this component in the
trash!

Sorry for the ranting...
